How Sadho handles your data — in plain language.

In short
- Tap counting works without an account. Without an account, Sadho offers Tap counting with 10 mantras, and that data stays on your phone.
- A free account syncs your practice. Your practice is stored with our database provider Supabase in Mumbai, India, encrypted in transit, and is the same on your phone and at sadho.in/app.
- We never sell your data. We share it only with the service providers who run Sadho for us, each only for its job.
- Usage statistics are totals. We look at totals to improve Sadho. Detailed usage events are sent only if you say yes to Help improve Sadho.
- You are in control. Delete your account and its synced data in Profile › Danger zone › Delete account, or ask us to.
- Questions or complaints? Write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@sadho.in. We acknowledge within 48 hours.
1. Who we are
Sadho is published by Homat Solutions Private Limited, a company incorporated in India (“we”, “us”). For this app and website we are the “Data Fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
- Registered office address: to be added
- CIN: to be added
- Email: grievance@sadho.in
This notice covers the Sadho app and this website (sadho.in). It is also our privacy policy under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
2. What we collect
What we collect depends on whether you use Sadho with a free account.
There are three situations:
- Without an account. Sadho offers Tap counting with 10 mantras (5 Hindu and 5 Sikh). What you do stays on your phone, and we receive none of it.
- With a free Sadho account. Account data: your email address, an optional name, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and your language. Practice data synced to your account: history, plans, calendar marks and notes, notepad, your own mantras, saved stopwatch timings and settings.
- If you email us. We receive your email address and whatever you write or attach — for example, an alarm event log you copied from the app. We use it only to reply to you and to fix the problem you report.
3. Your data: where it is kept, and why
Account and practice data is synced to your Sadho account. Voice training, your location and anything you do without an account stay on your phone.
| Data | Where it is kept | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To sign you in with a 6-digit code sent to your email. |
| Name (optional) | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To show your name in the app, if you add one. |
| Confirmation that you are 18 or older | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | Sadho accounts are only for adults. |
| Language | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To show Sadho in your language. |
| Practice history and plans | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To show your progress, the same on your phone and at sadho.in/app. |
| Calendar marks and notes | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To show your devotional calendar wherever you sign in. |
| Notepad notes, your own mantras and saved stopwatch timings | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | So they are there wherever you sign in. |
| Settings | Your Sadho account (Supabase, Mumbai, India) | To remember how you like Sadho to work. |
| Tap counting without an account | On your phone | Not synced; we never receive it. |
| Voice training data — numbers that describe sound features only (no audio is ever stored), kept separately for each microphone | On your phone | So Voice counting recognises your chanting. Never uploaded. |
| Last approximate location (or a default city if you refuse location) | On your phone | To calculate sunrise and sunset. Never uploaded. |
| Alarm event log | On your phone | To help diagnose an alarm that did not ring. It leaves your phone only if you copy it and send it to us. |
| Date the first-launch notice was shown and accepted | On your phone | To record that you saw this notice. |
4. Usage statistics
We look at totals to improve Sadho and plan features — for example how many people sign up, which features are used and how many mantras people add. Our admin tools show totals, not a person’s own entries.
Detailed app usage events are sent only if you say yes to Help improve Sadho. You can change this at any time in Profile.
5. Who we share data with
We never sell your data. We share it only with the service providers who run Sadho for us — each only for its job — and where the law requires it:
- Supabase — database and sign-in. Your account and practice data is stored in Mumbai, India.
- Our email sender — sends your 6-digit sign-in codes.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website.
- Google Play — delivers the app and handles in-app purchases.
- Razorpay (later) — payments on sadho.in, once Sadho Plus can be bought there.
- Our email provider — stores the messages you send to our @sadho.in addresses.
- This website. sadho.in sets no cookies, has no trackers and no analytics scripts, and loads nothing from other websites; one small script of our own runs the menu and animations. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs for security.
6. Where data is stored, and security
Account and practice data is stored with our database provider Supabase in Mumbai, India, and is encrypted in transit between your device and Supabase. Data on your phone lives in the app’s private storage, which Android keeps separate from other apps. Protect your phone with a screen lock, and keep access to your email safe, because sign-in codes are sent there. Our email accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step verification.
7. Permissions and why they are needed
Sadho asks only for what its features need. Most are optional; if you refuse one, only the related feature stops working. You can change them at any time in your phone’s settings.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Voice counting and Voice training. Sound is processed on the phone and never recorded, stored or sent. |
| Approximate location | To calculate sunrise and sunset. If you refuse, a default city is used. |
| Notifications | To show reminders, alarms, timers and session progress. |
| Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) | So alarms, timers and reminders go off at the right moment. |
| Full-screen alarm over the lock screen | Only to show a finished alarm, timer or session. |
| Foreground services | To keep Mala counting with the screen off, and to keep an alarm ringing. |
| Do Not Disturb access | Optional quiet mode during a session. Your previous setting is restored afterwards. |
| Vibration | For count feedback and alarms. |
| Keep screen on | Optional, to keep the screen awake during a session. |
| Run at start-up | To set your alarms and reminders again after the phone restarts. |
Sadho uses the internet to sign you in and to sync your practice when you have a free account. Links in the app open in your phone’s browser.
8. Backups
If the app lets you export a backup file, you choose where it is saved — your phone’s storage, a pen drive or a cloud drive you use. We never receive that file. If you store it with a cloud service, that service’s privacy policy applies to it.
9. Your consent, and how to withdraw it
When you create a free account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and agree to this policy. Detailed usage events are sent only if you say yes to Help improve Sadho. Emails you send us are information you give voluntarily for a specific purpose — getting a reply.
You can withdraw at any time, as easily as you gave it:
- Permissions: turn any permission off in your phone’s settings.
- Help improve Sadho: turn it off at any time in Profile.
- Your account: delete it in Profile › Danger zone › Delete account. This removes the account and its synced data.
- Emails: ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- access information about the personal data we process and who we share it with;
- correction, completion, updating and erasure of your personal data;
- grievance redressal — a quick, free way to complain to us;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to do so.
You can see and change most of your data in the app, and delete your account in Profile › Danger zone › Delete account. For anything else — a summary of the data we hold, a correction, erasure or a nomination — write to grievance@sadho.in. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you, and will not ask for more information than we need to do that.
11. Grievance Officer and response times
Grievance Officer: Amit Singh
Email: grievance@sadho.in
Company: Homat Solutions Private Limited, India
Registered office address: to be added
CIN: to be added
The Grievance Officer also answers any question about how Sadho handles your data.
When you write to us:
- we acknowledge your message within 48 hours;
- we aim to resolve it within 30 days;
- and in no case take longer than 90 days.
See also Contact & grievance.
12. Complaining to the Data Protection Board of India
If you are not satisfied with our response, or we do not respond within the times above, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India, set up under the DPDP Act. The Act asks you to use our grievance process first. The Board accepts complaints through its official online platform.
13. How long data is kept
- Account and synced practice data: kept while you have a Sadho account. When you delete your account, it is removed; backup copies kept by our database provider expire after a limited period.
- Usage statistics: kept as totals, which do not show a person’s own entries.
- Emails: kept only as long as needed to resolve your request and any follow-up, then deleted.
- On your phone: Tap counting without an account, Voice training and your location stay until you delete them or uninstall the app.
14. Children and the 18+ rule
Sadho accounts are only for people aged 18 or older, and you confirm this when you sign up. We do not knowingly create accounts for children (anyone under 18, under the DPDP Act). Tap counting without an account sends us no personal data. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we will delete it.
15. If a data breach ever happens
If personal data we hold is affected by a breach, we will inform every affected person and the Data Protection Board of India without delay, as the DPDP Act and Rules require — telling you what happened, what it means for you and what you can do.
16. What will change
We will update this policy before any of these happen:
- Sadho Plus on sadho.in — buying Sadho Plus on this website, with payments handled by Razorpay.
- Ads for free users, if we ever show them — never during jaap, alarms or prayers, never in Sadho Plus, and with your consent where the law requires it.
- New kinds of usage events or new service providers.
We will change the date and version history on this page, and for significant changes give notice in the app or on this website before they take effect.
